Synopsis
-
A collection of 11 images shot and graded into different present look to understand the concept of color grading.
OBJECTIVE
-
I selected 11 RAW photographs from a recent trip to Singapore and manually graded them into a series of distinct looks. Each image became a canvas to understand how mood, tone, and visual storytelling shift with color.

JOURNEY
-
Over the past few months, my work in cinematography has deepened—not just creatively, but technically. Being on set with experienced technicians opened up a new dimension of understanding. I found myself drawn to the finer details of image creation: color science, bit rates, color spaces, and the architecture of a color-managed workflow.
This curiosity pushed me to break down each technical term and build an adaptable system that suits my evolving style and upcoming shoots. One of the most significant turning points was hands-on access to new equipment like the Sony FX3. It made abstract concepts click into place and allowed me to experiment with greater control and confidence.

As a part of this learning journey, I selected 11 RAW photographs from a recent trip to Singapore and manually graded them into a series of distinct looks. Each image became a canvas to understand how mood, tone, and visual storytelling shift with color.
This experiment wasn’t just technically enriching—it was deeply rewarding. It reminded me why I fell in love with the moving image in the first place.
